Tromsø - Paris of the North. Tromsø is the capital of northern Norway and the seventh largest city in the country with its approx. 65 000 inhabitants. Tromsø is a beautiful northern Norwegian city with its spectacular scenery and special phenomena like the northern lights and midnight sun. The city is today a center for education, research and culture in Northern Norway and host’s festivals such as TIFF (Tromsø International Film Festival), Buktafestivalen, Døgnvillfestivalen and the Northern Lights Festival.   Fjellheisen is a cable car that takes you up to the city’s rooftop - Storsteinen, (421 m.a.s.l). From this terrace you can enjoy the great view over the city and it is really recommend for first time visitors. At the top you find a restaurant with outdoor seating and play area for children.

• Polar Museum in Tromsø

  The Polar Museum in Tromsø opened on June 18, 1978, 50 years to the day after Roald Amundsen left Tromsø on his last expedition, to search for Umberto Nobile and the airship "Italy". The museum is situated in an historic Customs warehouse, which dates back to 1830 and has an idyllic location on the waterfront in the historic Skansen area.
